Seeing Colour

Navigation: Colour and Dispense > FAQ's
In order to view a coloured object three things are required: an observer (human eye or spectrophotomer), an object and a light source which can be natural or artificial light. Take away any one of these and we are unable to define a colour.
Objects display colours by a combination of reflecting and absorbing the light which falls upon them.

White light (a combination of red, blue and green wavelengths) falls on the object. The green and blue are absorbed, the red is reflected, so the object appears red.
